Isabellas First Real Christmas Tree

I have always had a real tree growing up and thought I always would. Like most people though I gave in and tried a fake tree because it was easier. I wanted my daughter to experience a real tree however so went to a tree farm and picked one out. We did a few other Christmas things that day and here is the video I made.

Christmas Movies!

Much like the Halloween season, during the Christmas season I like to watch as many movies as I can. Most of which are not controversial but some of the movies may not be considered Christmas movies to some, but to me they are.

  • Just Friends
  • 8-Bit Christmas
  • The Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special
  • A Christmas Carol (Disney, Jim Carey)
  • Merry Happy Whatever (TV Show, lackluster)
  • The Ref
  • Spirited
  • The Night they Saved Christmas
  • Christmas Vacation
  • Trapped in Paradise
  • My Dad’s Christmas Date
  • The Family Man
  • Home Alone
  • Home Alone 2
  • The Santa Clause 2 (terrible)
  • The Santa Clause 3 (terrible)

Halloween Tradition

Devils Night: the night before Halloween when the movie “The Crow” takes place. When we were younger this is a movie Sean and I watched ALOT. So its dear to our hearts for a few reasons but as we grew older somewhere along the lines it became a tradition that we watch this movie on devils night or Halloween itself pending our respective schedules. Its a small thing, but i look forward to these kinds of things, we simply hit play at the same time and test throughout the movie and its something I look forward to each year!

Wanna join us? Watch the movie tonight, we will be!

Halloween Movies 2022

That time of year again! Every Halloween season I try to watch as many (1 per night if possible) Halloween (Horror) movies up until the night of Halloween. Some will be re-watches, some will be first time watches no real rhyme or reason. Lets face, old school horror still reigns supreme, 80’s horror especially. So follow along with me as i watch Halloween movies, and check out some, or all of the ones I am watching. Be sure to check back as this list will be added to with each movie I watch.

  • Tales of Halloween – I have had this one for a bit but finally watched it, its an anthology so its 10 shorter movies that all tie in to make one large movie, the tie in is not so deep just mainly they take place in the same town. Worth a watch, reminded me of the old horror shorts from days past.
  • Fright Night – Grew up on this movie, as I kid I watched it over and over. Pure 80’s greatness in all of its glory, there was a remake, skip it, watch the original!
  • Night of the Demons – First time watching this 80’s classic, i remember seeing the movie as a kid in the video rental store, the cover art was creepy and always stood out but i never picked it up, finally gave it a shot. Not sure what to say its 80’s horror, its worth a watch and has everything you would expect, cheesiness in its greatest form.
  • Pumpkinhead – Rewatch, I have seen it before and we have all heard of it or seen it. Pretty popular movie, up there with the likes of Jason, Freddy, Mike Myers etc, pumpkinhead is a classic, I will say at this point, it seems to have lost is scary effect on me, it was a fun watch but there were not scares to be had!
  • Sometimes they Come Back – Stephan King movie, this one is pretty decent, it has ghost/zombies hard to say what they were, the main character pretty much gets framed for murders by the ghosts haunting him, not a new concept but executed well, I say check it out. As students in his class start to die the kids that killed his brother start to take their place.
  • Joyride – This movie has early 2000’s feel all over it but past that its really not a bad movie. I recall when I first watched it years ago I thought the premise was stupid but as time went on it actually made more sense now then it did before. No monsters, demons or ghosts this is a real life thriller.
  • Blair Witch (2016) – I really like this movie its even more supernatural then the first which, this is indeed a sequel of which I did not know going into it. The first one as a creepiness that unfortunately wears off after the first viewing but this one not only has replay-ability but it makes it worth watching the first worth while before any viewing of this sequel.
  • Wolf-Man (1941) – It sounds so cliche to talk about how good these old movies are but man its true. This movie stands the test of time, great story that seems ahead of its time, there are many layers here beyond just a monster movie. Special effects and what not sure are not anything like you would like to see today but the story, the plot is engaging.
  • The Wolfman (2010) – Remake of the old black and white universal monster movie, i had seen it a while ago and I can’t say it left a lasting impression but seemed like a good Halloween movie especially after I heard it brought up on a podcast recently and one of the hosts said he doesn’t understand why people dislike it, it’s a good movie. Well after this most recent watch I can say it is not a good movie, i do not know if I will ever watch it again even under the guise of Halloween!
  • Hellraiser (2022) – Better than expected for a remake of sorts, it’s a bit of a mashup of things from the original Hellraiser and Hellraiser 2, both of those OG movies I feel a better but unlike so many reboots these days they did not ruin the franchise.
  • Terrifier – Jesus Christ, don’t bother with this one unless you’re into gore porn.
  • The Descent – Cave diving in the wrong cave i guess, this was a genuine scary movie, i recommend it. Lots of tension and jump scares and an underlying drama adding layers so its a decent movie not just horror for the sake of horror.
  • Killer Klowns from Outer Space – This is one of those classics that’s just fun to throw on when you know you might fall asleep during it. Thats really not a dig, I love this movie and only certain horror movies are capable of being a late-night fall asleep movie. Seriously, give it a chance!
  • The Munsters (2022) – What a goofy mess this was, but mad the sets were great. Visually the movie was great i loved the colors and the look they captured and for that reason i will probably watch it every Halloween when I’m looking for something easy and lighthearted, but the ending was abrupt, it just….ended, seemingly out of nowhere.
  • The Howling – Considered one of the top werewolf movies ever made, this movie was decent, for a movie that came out in 1981 you would think it was made today especially the commentary about the media, just watch it to see what I mean. My only complaint is that in the movie the werewolves can be out in the daylight, I don’t mind when they can change without a full moon, but they need to stick to the night. Give it a watch!
  • Sleepy Hollow – Tim Burton and Johnny Depp in their version of the headless horseman, need i say more? I watch this one every Halloween. I recall i was working at K-Mart in the electronics section which included movies, i bought this movie on VHS and went home from work that night and watched it.
  • Stephen Kings Thinner – Actually not bad a movie but these early King adaptations could be a little cheesy, as is this one but most horror fans embrace cheese!
  • Pearl – This just came out, its a prequel to the movie X and if you have not seen that one then…….Strap in when you watch these movies!
  • Host – I thought this was an interesting concept. a bunch of friends do i seance over zoom. It was ok.
  • Friday the 13th The Final Chapter – I picked one at random, when you want to watch a Halloween movie passively many of these are perfect!
  • Barbarian – Holy fuck what a wild movie, but I liked it, you need to see it for yourself.

Isabella’s 3rd Birthday

First off, please slow down, stop gorwing up!

It was a good day though, people came out to celebrate with her, she played, open gifts and I can say she finally understands the whole “gift thing” and was ery excited, just see for yourself in the video. Once again I baked her cake and all day even before it was done she was asking for a slice.

First Time WaterSkiing

I have wanted to waterski for a long time now but never had an experienced boat driver and as im getting older it really felt like, its now or never!

So on my very first run, so my friend and boat driver suggested for my first time to use flat skis, they were wooden, he is a old time skier, these skis looked bran new but i don’t think they were, i think they have seen lots of action, he said the flat skis would be better then those that are con-caved. So i get the life vest on, we fuel up his boat, i wet the skis then put them on and adjust them, toss my gopro on my head because, well either way this goes its gonna be good right?

I get in the water, get in position and put the skis on, not easy, not for a beginner. He tosses me the rope and gets it taut. He asked if i was ready, i said i think so, which was a nervous way of saying yes. So he hits it (told me on the next run to say that when i’m ready) and i did what i thought was right which was stay in the ball, stay low and wait for the boat to pull me up, so i’m skiing, but i’m crouched down, im getting water all over my face in my mouth because i’m mouth breathing, after a little bit i try to stand a bit which again, i heard the biggest mistake is trying stand to soon so i was feeling like “i am not suppose to do this” but i try and it just didn’t feel right, remember this is my first time so i just bail, i didn’t fall per se i actually let go, in the deep part of the lake, feeling vulnerable, a ski comes off and despite having a life jacket and floating i’m freaking out a bit, i’m spitting out some water, breathing heavy and i’m thinking about being a total wimp, apologizing for wasting his time and calling it quits.

He comes back around so i grab the rope and he says “hey you gotta stand up dude” He wasn’t wrong, i think i took “don’t try stand up too quick” a little to literally. I don’t recall my reply it was either “ok” or “not that easy”. So he tells me “say hit it when you’re ready”…. ok.

For whatever reason, i didn’t wimp out. I compose myself try to get my ski tips straight and angled a little bit, i had no idea they had a mind of their own once in the water, they don’t want to face where i want them to, but thats ok got em close enough and said “hit it”

So here we go i’m in a ball and i’m like fuck it, worse case let go of the rope so i slowly stand up and….. i’m skiing, kinda. No i’m joking thats it, second run and i was up, we went around and did 2 loops, not sure the total distance we went but man, you gotta be fit for this huh? I always thought i was in decent shape, slender build, normal i guess. Not super super active since my daughter was born 2 years ago. My lower legs were burning, i cant quite describe the feeling, it wasn’t my calfs it was from the knee down just the whole thing, felt like wood about to snap lol, but they were not. All my concentration was on not falling, i had all the advice in my head, i did have my legs bent but they felt like i had little to no control over them, as in turning, forget it, i will have just go straight for the next 10 times before i can even move myself around the wake. The other one was chest out, i just could not make this happen, i was hunched forward the whole time, you would think i would faceplant but i did not, maybe the bent knees saved me, but there was a 10 year old skiing near by and he was like leaned back just chilling, im hunched forward quite literally holding on for dear life, it was a quite uncomfortable position. but, i stayed up, for 2 loops and as we passed by our area i let go because my legs could not take anymore.

So i am a water skier now, i plan to do much more of this and progress in my abilities, someday, my daughter will be skiing with me.
