Perfect Video Game Moment

[su_note radius=”20″]I’m always telling my brother-in-law that I prefer a good story mode video game compared to the run and gun shooter, here is an example why.[/su_note]

I’ve played thousands of games over the years. And only once has a game ever given me a bonafide outbreak of goosebumps. Head-to-toe. It was during this past console generation, and it was while I was riding a horse.

If you’ve played Red Dead Redemption, you already know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, let me set the scene.

Mass Effect 3

So I recently beat mass effect 3. It was an awesome game and an awesome trilogy. I played and beat all 3 mass effect titles and they were all pretty epic. The cool thing is that the character you make in game 1 you’re able to import into game 2. Now all the choices you made in game 1, the allies you made, the people you pissed off, well they will remember that in the game too. In game 3 you import your character from game 2 and the cycle continues. So this is a game(s) that you can really get invested in. It also made me immediately want to put its game 1 and play the series all over again this time making different decisions and see what happens.

Van Helsing

So I decided to watch Van Helsing last night.

I really like this movie, its fun. Its all the old school Universal Studios Monsters but re-booted a bit (minus the mummy). You have the werewolves (no wolfman per-say), count Dracula & The Frankenstein monster. Its constant action & the special effects are pretty cool. This is a good movie for a family to watch, the violence and gore are not over the top and the language is mild.

Super 8

While NOT a horror movie I was flipping through Amazon video and came across this. It had 2 names that interested me, J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg. The description said it was about area 51, unknown cargo a train etc. So sci-fi I said. Sci-fi is kind of Halloween-ish. So I figured I would watch this as my next Halloween movie. All I can say to you is to avoid this movie. I found it horrible, it was more about like a love story for these 12-year-old kids. I was NOT able to even relate to that, I’m too old (feels weird to say).

The Burbs

Ok, I have loved this movie since I was a kid and as a kid its scary for sure.

However, as an adult, I must say this is a comedy for sure, its still a great Halloween movie to watch, especially with the family. It’s a good old school humor/horror mash-up. Some good 80’s material. You can never go wrong with actors like Tom Hanks and Corey Feldman.

Stir of Echoes

I realize I’m a bit behind on my Halloween movies, I apologize for this.

So my movie for the other night was Stir of Echoes. What I like about this movie is it runs the gamut. You have ghosts, physicists, murder, mystery and more. I like the story and find it well executed. It’s not an uber scary movie either for those who don’t them hardcore and it’s a gore fest.
